On May 18, 2026, D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University welcomed an official delegation from Azerbaijan Technical University led by Rector, Professor Vilayat Valiyev.
The program began with an introduction to one of the university’s flagship projects - the Luban Workshop laboratory, established in partnership with Chinese industrial and educational partners. The guests had the opportunity to personally evaluate the laboratory’s advanced technological facilities and its role in training engineering specialists for the region’s industry.
The delegation then visited EKTU’s Centers of Excellence and Competence, including the SMART ENGINEERING Center, the Center of Competence in Construction and Building Technologies, the Center of Competence and Technology Transfer in Water Resources and Water Management, the VERITAS Center of Excellence, as well as the “Altyn Altai” Museum.
After lunch, the delegation became acquainted with the industrial potential of the region by visiting the museum of the Ulba Metallurgical Plant one of the leading producers of rare-earth metals- as well as the “Emil” plant.
The culmination of the eventful day was the official meeting between the delegation of Azerbaijan Technical University and the leadership of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, which took place following the industrial visits.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral academic and scientific cooperation, including the development of academic mobility for faculty members, the implementation of joint educational programs, and collaborative research projects.
The visit of the Azerbaijani colleagues marks an important step toward building a sustainable partnership between the two technical universities within the Eurasian educational space.
