D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) hosted a two-day practical workshop “Hands-On Scientific English: Polish Your Paper & Pitch” as part of the DAAD “Eastern Partnership” project.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Dr. Anita Vržina, a representative of the Nuremberg Institute of Technology Georg Simon Ohm (TH Nuremberg), Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Physics and General Sciences (AMP).

The event was organized for EKTU PhD students and faculty members and aimed to enhance their skills in using English for academic and research activities.

Throughout the two-day workshop, participants worked on preparing and improving scientific papers in English. Particular attention was given to the structure of academic texts, academic writing style, clarity and accuracy of formulations, logical presentation of ideas, and effective communication of research findings.

A dedicated part of the programme focused on developing scientific presentation and oral research communication skills. Participants completed practical tasks, analyzed examples of academic texts and presentations, and received professional recommendations and feedback from Prof. Dr. Anita Vržina.

The practical format of the workshop allowed participants not only to explore effective approaches to preparing scientific materials in English, but also to apply the acquired knowledge directly to their own research and academic projects.

The workshop marked another important step in strengthening cooperation between EKTU and the Nuremberg Institute of Technology Georg Simon Ohm (TH Nuremberg) within the framework of the DAAD “Eastern Partnership” project. Such international cooperation contributes to strengthening academic ties, facilitating experience exchange, and creating new opportunities for the professional and academic development of EKTU faculty members and PhD students.
