On October 29, 2025, D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University hosted a meeting with representatives of the Department for Emergency Situations of East Kazakhstan region of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the East Kazakhstan branch of the state institution “Kazselezashchita” of the Ministry for Emergency Situations. The main outcome of the meeting was the implementation of the results of the BR21882022 “Research of avalanche activity in the East Kazakhstan region for development of monitoring systems and scientific substantiation of their placement”.
The university was represented by EKTU Digital Officer and Program Manager Natalia Denissova, Associate Professor of the School of Earth Sciences and Project Executive Olga Petrova, Head of the Department for Support and Information Technologies Vitaly Zuev, as well as the university’s scientific and engineering staff.
During the visit, representatives of the Department for Emergency Situations of East Kazakhstan region and the “Kazselezashchita” branch were introduced to the research results and the operating principles of the developed avalanche monitoring systems. The university team presented the equipment and digital solutions created at EKTU, which aim to enhance the efficiency of forecasting and preventing avalanche hazards in mountainous areas of the region.
The guests paid special attention to the work of the Situational Avalanche Hazard Monitoring Center of East Kazakhstan region, where the collection, processing, and visualization of environmental and technogenic monitoring data will be carried out.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an act of project implementation was signed, confirming the practical application of the scientific developments of EKTU in the field of natural disaster prevention.
This project contributes to the development of the region’s environmental and technogenic safety system, combining the scientific potential of the university with the practical expertise of the Ministry for Emergency Situations.
