From May 7 to 12, a group of students from D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) participated in the international educational program OHM Business Campus Week 2026, organized at Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm in Nuremberg, Germany.
The program included academic classes, introduction to the university environment, cultural activities, and visits to leading German companies.
On the first day, participants explored the historic center of Nuremberg during the city tour “Notes of Nürnberg,” which allowed them to immerse themselves in the cultural and historical context of the city.
The academic part of the program began with a joint lecture on entrepreneurship involving students from international programs and EKTU faculty members. Participants were also introduced to Ohm University through a presentation, met with representatives of the International Office, and took part in a campus tour. Throughout the week, students worked on topics such as Innovation Communication, Innovation and Project Management Control, International Management – Germany and the World, and discussed issues of Mergers & Acquisitions in both German and global contexts.
A strong emphasis was placed on practice-oriented learning. Students visited the Deutsches Museum Nürnberg / Future Museum, where they explored modern technological solutions and visions of the future of science and innovation. They also visited the Faber-Castell Writing Instruments production site in Stein, where they learned about manufacturing processes, toured the “Alte Mine” museum, and visited the brand store.
An important part of the program was the introduction to the industrial and technological potential of the region. Participants visited the Siemens Healthineers MedMuseum in Erlangen and attended a leadership lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Ralf P. Thomas, CFO and member of the Board of Siemens AG. These activities helped students better understand the management of international companies, the role of innovation in business, and practical aspects of corporate leadership.
In addition to the academic and professional program, students had the opportunity to interact informally with students and faculty of Ohm University. Shared lunches and dinners, as well as a final meeting at Wöhrder Wiese park, contributed to intercultural dialogue, the building of new connections, and the strengthening of partnerships.
Participation in OHM Business Campus Week 2026 was a valuable educational and cultural experience for the students. The trip broadened their professional horizons, provided insight into the German higher education system, and offered a deeper understanding of the operations of international companies and the application of innovative approaches in business. The program also contributed to the development of participants’ communication, analytical, and intercultural competencies.
