On October 20, 2025, the XXIV International Scientific and Practical Conference, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, commenced its work.

The conference was opened by Zhadyra Tussupkanovna Konurbayeva, Vice Rector for Science and Innovation. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Marat Almasovich Azilkhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and Head of the Secretariat of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Zhanar Kalikanovna Bukanova, Director of the East Kazakhstan Branch of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; as well as distinguished international scholars — Tomáš Kučera, Professor of the Department of Geodemography and Demography at Charles University in Prague, and Mark Élie, Deputy Director of the Center for Russian, Caucasian, Central European, and Central Asian Studies at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (Paris).

The plenary session featured keynote presentations by Natalia Pavlovna Kalashnikova, Doctor of Political Sciences, Academician of the International Academy of Informatization, Chair of the Association of Departments of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan “Shanyrak,” Deputy Chair of the Scientific Expert Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, and Head of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan Department at L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University; Aigul Kakimbekovna Sadvokasova, Doctor of Sociological Sciences and Director General of the Institute for Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Ayaulym Zarlykanovna Sagynbayeva, Master of Demography and Head of the Center for Analysis and Forecasting of Demographic Processes at the Information and Computing Center of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Farkhad Shaimuratovich Kuanganov, Director of the National Center for Higher Education Development of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; as well as other national and international experts in ethnodemographic processes and social development.

The meeting concluded with a presentation of the results of international research expeditions conducted by the Scientific and Educational Center for Altaic and Turkic Studies “Greater Altai” of Altai State University.

In the afternoon, the conference continued with sectional sessions, focusing on the following research areas:

  • “Eurasian Ethnodemographic Processes: Population Size, Ethnic Composition, and Population Reproduction”

    (Moderator: A. N. Alekseenko, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Leading Researcher at the International Research Center Digital Social Research);

  • “Urbanization as a Factor of Socio-Demographic Transformations”

    (Moderator: N. L. Krasnobaeva, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Chief Research Fellow at the International Research Center Digital Social Research);

  • “The Role of Migration in Demographic Processes”

    (Moderator: K. V. Grigorichev, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Head of the Baikal Center for Human Capital Development in Demography at Irkutsk State University).
