An international scientific and technical conference on geotechnical engineering was held in St Petersburg on November 1, bringing together representatives of universities, research institutions and the professional community from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Syria and other countries.
D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University was represented by A.V. Khapin, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Head of the BIM Design in Construction Research and Production Centre, and B.E. Makhiev, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Leading Researcher.
The EKTU researchers presented their findings in geotechnical design and contributed to discussions on scientific and industrial challenges related to improving the reliability and safety of structures built in complex soil conditions.
The conference covered modern methods for investigating the physical and mechanical properties of soils, the analysis and design of foundations, and structural and technological solutions for underground construction. The programme also addressed the scientific and technical monitoring of buildings, the causes of structural failures and measures to prevent emergency situations.
Participation in the conference enabled EKTU researchers to exchange experience with international colleagues, explore modern research approaches and discuss opportunities for joint scientific projects. The knowledge gained will support geotechnical research at EKTU, enhance engineering education and promote the application of research findings in construction practice.
