Students of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) took part in one of the largest technology events in Central Asia — the Digital Bridge Astana 2025 forum, which was held from October 2 to 4 at the EXPO International Exhibition Center in Astana.
This year, the forum was held under the theme “Generative Nation,” reflecting the rapid development of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies in Kazakhstan. Digital Bridge traditionally brings together representatives of government, business, startups, and international companies. In 2025, the forum welcomed more than 30,000 participants, 1,000 speakers, 500 startups, and delegates from over 100 countries worldwide.
Particular attention was drawn to keynote speeches by global technology leaders. The main guest of the forum was Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of the Telegram messenger, who visited Kazakhstan for the first time and shared his vision of the future of digital freedom and data protection. Other prominent speakers included Mikhail Lomtadze, co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Kaspi.kz, and Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp., who spoke about the development of financial technologies and Kazakhstan’s role in the international IT ecosystem. Among international speakers, Kai-Fu Lee, a Chinese entrepreneur, founder of Sinovation Ventures and 01.ai, and one of the world’s leading experts in artificial intelligence, stood out. The forum also featured representatives from South Korea, China, Europe, and the United States — founders of major technology companies, venture funds, and research institutions.
EKTU students visited the exhibition area, educational tracks, panel discussions, and workshops focused on AI, FinTech, AgriTech, GovTech, and the startup ecosystem. Participation in such events helps young professionals develop practical skills, cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, and apply their knowledge in university projects. According to the participants, the forum became a unique opportunity to explore global technology trends, exchange experience with experts, and gain inspiration from leaders of the digital economy.
