Project Summary:

The project's primary research questions and hypotheses focus on conducting comprehensive systems studies to determine the impact of industrial impacts on soil quality by comparing the situation in Kazakhstan, Japan, and Hungary. A comprehensive systems study is planned to examine the migration of heavy metals in soils, taking into account geographic location, terrain, the nature of the impacting industrial enterprises, and other factors. The primary research approach is to assess soil degradation dynamics based on remote sensing data from satellite images, UAV image processing, traditional agrochemical surveys, and archival and current data. Using GIS technologies and mathematical modeling, it is planned to develop a method for predicting soil responses to anthropogenic and climatic disturbances using artificial neural networks and visualizing them in 3D.

The aim of the project is to determine the best ways to combat land degradation by using three-dimensional reconstructions obtained by creating various digital terrain models in comparison with historical data, in real time and the predicted future, to assess ongoing processes and create tools for sustainable land management.

Expected and achieved results of the project:

Year The results obtained from the research

2025 year

Systematization of information on the soil condition of polluted landscapes of the East Kazakhstan region and the degree of its degradation based on satellite images from Landsat, Sentine and other systems.

2026 year

The design and development of a web application concept for soil quality monitoring will be carried out. The main functions of the application are defined, such as data visualization, display of analysis results and integration with the monitoring system.

2027 year

A web application for soil assessment will be developed, including recommendations (measures) to minimize pollution and soil degradation, integrated with a monitoring system to ensure data relevance.
