A first-year student induction ceremony titled “Welcome, Student!” was held in the main square of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University.
The event marked an important step in helping first-year students adjust to university life. It introduced them to EKTU traditions, encouraged them to feel part of the wider student community and gave them an opportunity to make new friends and take their first confident steps towards future projects and achievements.
Saule Rakhmetullina, Chair of the Management Board and Rector of EKTU, congratulated the new students. She encouraged them to pursue their goals with confidence, take full advantage of the opportunities available at the University and make their student years a time of learning, memorable experiences and personal accomplishment. Z. Taigaranova, Head of the Organisational and Control Department of the Economic Investigation Department for the East Kazakhstan Region, also shared her best wishes with the students.
One of the central moments of the ceremony was the student pledge. The first-year students promised to uphold the honour of EKTU, pursue knowledge, continue developing their abilities and contribute to the University’s history.
Ai-Sana, the University’s robot, added an innovative touch to the celebration by welcoming the new generation of EKTU students. Deans and representatives of the University’s schools introduced their academic communities and traditions, while emphasising that students from every programme are part of one EKTU team.
The presentation of a student ID card symbolised the beginning of a new journey. For the first-year students, the card represents more than their new status: it marks the start of a period filled with learning, new opportunities and responsibility for their own future.
Performances by the Extasy show ballet and singer Sanzhar Dauletuly created a lively festive atmosphere. After the official ceremony, students joined a range of interactive activities, including Dance Battle, Dombyra Battle, Karaoke Zone, Merch Zone, Key Zone and an area introducing the University’s creative groups.
The first-year students enthusiastically took part in competitions, sang, danced, explored student organisations and made new friends. The celebration concluded with a student disco, bringing the evening to an energetic and cheerful close.
The induction was warm, positive and full of student spirit. Its interactive format and varied programme received an enthusiastic response from the first-year students and gave them some of their first memorable experiences at EKTU.
Yesterday’s applicants are now full members of the EKTU community. Ahead of them are academic challenges, exciting projects, student initiatives, new friendships and many opportunities for professional and personal growth.
