For two days, D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University hosted the XVI International Scientific Conference “Solid State Physics”, dedicated to the memory of Professor Sergey Viktorovich Plotnikov.
The central theme of the conference was the analysis of fundamental and applied research in solid state physics, with a focus on scientific discoveries and achievements in this field.
The event brought together Kazakhstani and international scientists, engineers, and young researchers. Among the speakers were: S. Sakhiev, General Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Professor and academician M. Skakov, T. Ramazanov, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, O. Gavrilenko, Executive Director for Geology at LLP “Qaz Gold Minerals”, B. Mukhametuly, representative of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, A. Bekbayev, representative of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, A. Turlybekuly, Senior Researcher at National Laboratory Astana and an alumnus of EKTU. Among the speakers were Sergei Viktorovich's students.
The conference program included discussions on cutting-edge topics, such as new materials, their physical and mechanical properties, structural and phase transformations, and innovative technologies. Special attention was given to strengthening scientific and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Participants shared innovative ideas regarding novel materials and their physico-mathematical characteristics. A significant emphasis was placed on enhancing research cooperation across disciplines and institutions.
The main outcome of the conference will be the publication of a proceedings volume, containing the research papers presented at the event. Selected articles will also be published in reputable scientific journals, including the “Herald of D. Serikbayev EKTU”.
