At the end of May, students and undergraduates majoring in Life Safety and Environmental Protection, accompanied by lecturers O. Petrova and O. Vasilyeva, visited Ust-Kamenogorsk TPP LLP as part of an educational excursion. Dastan Olazhbayev, Acting Deputy Head of the Ecology Department of East Kazakhstan Region, gave a welcoming speech to the students.

The visit was timed to coincide with World Environment Day. The main topic of discussion was the separate collection of plastic waste, including practices implemented in industrial settings. A lecture on this subject was delivered by Marina Streltsova, Chief Ecologist of the TPP. She also spoke about the best available environmental protection techniques currently used at the enterprise.

Following the lecture, Gulzana Shafigullina, Head of the Laboratory, gave an engaging and informative presentation on the activities of the TPP's sanitary and industrial laboratory. During the lab tour, students were introduced to the methods and tools used for environmental and workplace quality control at the facility.

Students also had the opportunity to visit the TPP’s Corporate Training Center and its training ground, where practical training sessions are held.

The excursion proved highly beneficial for EKTU students and undergraduates, reinforcing their knowledge in key subjects such as Environmental Monitoring and Occupational Safety in Industrial Settings.

The students participating in the visit are also members of the Clover Environmental Club at EKTU. The club actively promotes plastic waste separation at the university and supports the national project "3.2.1. Start!". For this reason, learning how separate plastic collection is organized in an industrial context was especially relevant and interesting for them.

At the end of the excursion, Valeria Parubchishina, Chair of the Clover Eco-Club and a third-year student, answered questions from Altay-TV journalists and shared her impressions of the event.
