D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU) is taking part in one of the key academic events of the region — QS Eurasia Forum 2025, held in Tashkent, bringing together leading universities across Eurasia. For EKTU, participation in the forum is of particular importance, as Eurasia today represents not merely a geographical bridge between East and West, but a dynamic space where new approaches to science, technology, engineering, and sustainable development are being shaped. The university seeks to be an active contributor to these processes by strengthening international partnerships and expanding research opportunities.
As part of the visit, the EKTU delegation held negotiations with two leading academic and research institutions of Uzbekistan. National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, one of the oldest universities in the region, presented its strongest research schools in physics, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, chemistry, and biology. The University of Geological Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the largest specialized research institution in Central Asia, showcased the scientific potential of its institutes working in geology, geophysics, mineral resources, hydrogeology, and oil and gas exploration. These meetings marked an important step toward the development of joint research projects and the exchange of academic expertise.
Following the negotiations, a four-party agreement was signed between D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, Baku State University, the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, and Atyrau University of Oil and Gas named after Safi Utebayev. The agreement opens a new stage of academic cooperation aimed at advancing joint research initiatives and developing international educational programs.
The memorandum of cooperation with leading universities of Uzbekistan covers key areas such as nuclear energy, geology and geoengineering, mineral resources, chemistry and biochemistry, ecology, artificial intelligence in engineering sciences, sustainable development, and green technologies. In addition, expanded opportunities are being created for academic mobility of EKTU students and faculty, including internships, research placements, and study programs at leading universities in Tashkent. Plans include the establishment of joint laboratories, research teams, and collaborative projects, enabling EKTU to actively participate in international grant programs of the EAEU, the European Union, and APEC.
EKTU’s participation in QS Eurasia Forum 2025 represents an important step toward strengthening the university’s position in international rankings and expanding its global academic engagement. The forum serves as a platform where a new map of scientific cooperation in Eurasia is being formed, and EKTU intends to be one of the key contributors to this emerging academic landscape. The university expresses its gratitude to the forum organizers, as well as to colleagues from the National University of Uzbekistan and the University of Geological Sciences, for the open and productive dialogue.
EKTU continues to move forward — through partnerships, research excellence, and the expansion of international cooperation.
