On 17 February 2026, an award ceremony for participants of the International Professional Educator Registry (iPER/iPEER) was held at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU), with the participation of ENTER Network President José Carlos Quadrado. During the event, 29 EKTU faculty members received certificates and lapel badges confirming compliance with the Global Standards for Professional Educators (ENTER Register) and were included in the iPER/iPEER registry in the fields of Engineering, Arts and Humanities, as well as Business, Administration and Law.
This achievement is the result of the University's systematic work to enhance teaching quality and secure international recognition of academic staff competencies within the Erasmus+ Edu-Fusion Network for Sustainable Growth (Edu-Fusion NSG) project (ERASMUS-EDU-2024-CBHE-STRAND-3, Grant Agreement No. 101179805), funded by the European Union (EU), where EKTU is one of the key beneficiaries. The project consortium brings together 11 partners from Portugal, Spain and Kazakhstan, including the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Edu-Fusion NSG focuses on introducing modern approaches to the design and delivery of academic programmes, strengthening practice-based learning, and reinforcing university-industry cooperation, including international teacher certification and the development of support mechanisms for continuous professional growth.
It is important to note that the development and international verification of teaching competencies directly align with the objectives set out in the development and implementation of the national model of engineering education and the Concept for the Development of Engineering Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, aimed at improving the quality of engineering training, strengthening links with industry, and advancing a system of professional certification.
The International Professional Educator Registry (iPER/iPEER) is an international registry of higher education professional educators, established through registration and certification procedures. It ensures the recognition and comparability of competencies in teaching, research, and academic governance by making them "visible" and internationally validated. The ENTER Register is based on standards and assessment rubrics that integrate pedagogical, research, and managerial/motivational competencies, enabling transparent and consistent verification of professional qualifications.
For EKTU, the inclusion of 29 faculty members in iPER/iPEER strengthens the University's international reputation and builds evidence of the region's human capital quality-particularly in the context of preparing for international accreditation of engineering programmes under the EUR-ACE® standard and enhancing visibility and trust indicators considered in the QS World University Rankings. For each educator, iPER/iPEER status serves as an internationally recognised benchmark of teaching quality, expands opportunities for academic cooperation and participation in international initiatives, and supports a culture of continuous professional development and the dissemination of best educational practices across the University.
Going forward, EKTU plans to further expand international verification of teaching competencies, integrate ENTER Register standards into internal quality assurance mechanisms, and continue implementing Edu-Fusion NSG tools to strengthen practice-based learning and sustainable partnerships with industry.
