The Department of training translators as a sub-division of the Institute was established in 2002-03 academic year for realization of minor education "Translator in Professional Communication".

Building trilingual education is one of the main strategic directions of development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Through this program Kazakhstan will gain global competitive strength
“Good professional training in the technical area must be based on reliable knowledge in the area of economy of production and their management. Besides, knowledge of foreign languages is in demand…” (N.A. Nazarbaev).
Realizing the given postulates D. Serikbaev EKSTU developed and implemented the program “Translator in Professional Communication”. The program foresees the advanced 1,200 – hour of foreign language study with forming of advanced vocabulary of a major technical specialty.
The implementing of this program contributes considerably in the development of international cooperation and brings the following benefits to the students and the university:
- the graduates of the university with this program certificate are in demand and promote the university image;
- the applicants for “Bolashak” grant are successfully selected;
- the university has the opportunity to form the personnel of young teachers with good proficiency of a foreign language, which increases its potential in expanding international cooperation and active participating in different international programs;
- technical higher education institutions have become prestigious for the leavers of schools with advanced learning of a foreign language because they can study major technical courses along with the progressive learning a foreign language and getting a minor certificate; this attracts the applicants with good knowledge of a foreign language.
