Physical culture and sport

The Department of Physical Education and Sports is one of the oldest departments of the university, the year of its creation is 1960. The first heads of the department were Levchenko B.F., Zhaksylykov M.F.

Since December 2023, the head of the Health and Sports Center has been Symbat Tusukhanovich Bekbossynov.

Scientific and personnel potential of the Health and Sports Center: 13 trainers and teachers. Among them: 2 honored trainer-teacher, 5 senior trainer-teachers, 1 fitness instructor and 1 highly qualified specialist.

Regulatory documents for the work of the Health and Sports Center:

  • Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Physical Education and Sports” (July 3, 2014 No. 228-B ZRK);
  • Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the implementation of the state program for the development of physical education and sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2007-2011” (September 2, 2008, No. 498);
  • Concept for the development of physical culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2025 (No. 168 of January 11, 2016);
  • Message from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan “Mass sport is the key to the health of the nation” (01.09.2020).

On the basis of these documents, a work program is drawn up, taking into account the conditions and possibilities of the sports base of the university, the contingent of students, and the qualifications of the teaching staff.

The main tasks

The Center performs the following functions:

  • Integrates physical education and sports into the academic and professional activities, daily life, and leisure activities of students, faculty, and staff; promotes a healthy lifestyle, develops knowledge and skills in personal and public hygiene, self-control, and combats bad habits;
  • Creates the necessary organizational and methodological conditions for engaging in various forms and types of physical education and sports in accordance with the established traditions of the institution, the training profile of specialists, and the interests of staff members;
  • Introduces new forms and methods of physical education, best practices, and scientific achievements; utilizes the Center's resources efficiently and effectively;
  • Organizes the educational and training process in sports sections;
  • Develops and implements calendar plans for mass health, physical education, and sports events, and ensures their safety;
  • Registers and maintains records and athletic achievements, forms national teams for the institution's sports, and ensures their participation in sports competitions;
  • Develops current and long-term plans for the development of mass physical education, health, and sports activities, as well as cost estimates for the Center;
  • In accordance with the approved procedure, sends teams and individual athletes to competitions;
  • Submits proposals to the trade union committee and the university administration regarding incentives for physical education staff, individual coaches, teachers, and athletes for outstanding performance in the development of mass physical education, health, and sports activities, awarding certificates, commemorative gifts, and cash bonuses in accordance with the established procedure;
  • Submits proposals to the administration, public organizations of the higher educational institution, and higher-level sports organizations for improving activities in the field of physical education and sports.
Organization of the educational process

Physical education classes are offered as part of the "Choice" program in the following areas:

  • General Physical Fitness (GPT):
  • Volleyball:
  • Basketball:
  • Table Tennis:
  • Fitness (Girls):

The "Health" program is designed for students temporarily exempt from physical education classes and with health issues (upon presentation of a certificate from a medical advisory committee).

The "Professional" program is designed for students who are currently professionally involved in any sport outside of the curriculum and hold the titles of "Master of Sports" or "Candidate for Master of Sports."
