6М050600 «Economics»

The Department of «Engineering Entrepreneurship» of D. Serikbaev East Kazakhstan State Technical University was preparing master students in the specialty 6M050600 - «Economics».

The educational program «Economics» has three trajectories of training:

• economic training at the micro level;
• economic training at the macro level,
• the economy of innovation.

The period for completion of the educational program 6M050600 – «Economics»:

• 1 year (full-time form, profile direction).

Master of economics and business is an academic degree obtained by graduates of the specialty.

• 2 years (full-time form, scientific and pedagogical direction).

Master of Economic Sciences is an academic degree obtained graduates of the specialty of the scientific and pedagogical direction.

The Mission of the educational program is to prepare competitive workforce by providing quality educational services on the basis of integrating science, education and production in the current conditions of industrial and innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Objectives of the educational program

Training master students for developmental and management activity at the enterprises of various areas and branches of the economy of the East Kazakhstan region and The Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as to the activity related with management and regulation of the economy of the region and the state.

Development of creative potential, initiative and innovation of master students, the ability to develop new professional knowledge and skills in accordance with the requests of domestic and foreign employers.

Training of the highly qualified scientific workforce for the research centers and structural divisions of the enterprises, engaged in scientific work in area of micro-and macroeconomics, as well as for solving the issues related with rational use of resources, increase of economic efficiency of economic activities.

The objectives of the educational program is to prepare master students - graduates those:

• who possess the skills of highly effective use of modern methods of searching for and processing economic information,
• who are ready to work in a competitive environment in the conditions of globalization of the world economy,
• who are capable of solving professional tasks for achieving financial sustainability and strategic effectiveness of enterprises and organizations any forms of ownership that carry out their activities, both nationally and internationally one market.

After graduation, graduates should:

Know:

• special terminology, including in English, which is using in scientific communication;
• principles of organization and conduct of scientific research in the economy, as well as the presentation of basic scientific results;
• modern software products needed to solve economic and statistical problems; Modern methods of price policy and state regulation.
• models and methods for analyzing the business environment and markets for the purpose of developing an organization strategy;
• the laws of the functioning of the modern economy at the macro and micro levels;
• modern methods of econometric analysis, monitoring and forecasting.

Be able:

• to evaluate long-term results of economic activity of a research object,
• to use modern software tog solve economic problems and situations;
• to use modern methods, techniques, tools for developing and implementing a business strategy and a functional organizational strategy;
• to generate forecasts for the development of specific economic processes at the micro and macro levels,
• to select and justify the tools in accordance with the assigned economic objective.

Have the skills of:

• economic modeling and forecasting with the use of modern tools;
• the formation of price and competitive policy;
• the formation of the strategy of innovative development of the object of research;
• the application of the methodology of analysis, monitoring and planning in the professional field of activity;
• critical scientific thinking, as well as organization and carrying out scientific research in the economy,
• obtaining and coordinating strategic decisions in conditions of uncertainty.

The educational program provides a practice for master students, which is a kind of training sessions that are directly focused on the vocational and practical training of students. When implementing the master's program, the following types of practices are possible: production, research, pedagogical. Practices are conducted mainly in third-party business organizations, consulting firms, research centers. Specific types of practices and the objects of their conduct are determined by the specifics of the master's program.

The sphere of professional activity: economic, financial, marketing and analytical services of organizations of various industries and forms of ownership, ministries and bodies of public service, academic research organizations.

10 teachers, more than 90% of them have a scientific degree take part in the preparation of master's students in the specialty 6M050600 – «Economics».

A bilateral «Agreement on the implementation of educational master programs in a network form within the framework of SCO University» was concluded between D. Serikbayev EKSTU and The National University of Science and Technology MISiS. Under the program «Economics of Innovation» training in D. Serikbaev EKSTU - 1 year and in MISiS - 1 year, after graduation two diplomas are issued.
