International cooperation

One of the most effective mechanisms for the integration of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University into European Higher Education Area is the program "Invitation of international scientists and consultants in the leading universities of Kazakhstan", which is funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On the implementation of the program "Promotion of foreign scientists and consultants in the leading universities of Kazakhstan" the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2013 allocated 90 million KZT to D. Serikbaev East Kazakhstan State Technical University.

The purpose of this program is to invite leading international scholars for consultation and lectures of master and PhD students; leadership of PhD dissertation projects, participation in research of engineering laboratories, as well as lectures for undergraduate students and courses for professors. Thanks to this program the geography of University partnerships has been greatly expanded.

During the implementation of the program for 2013 our University has 85 contracts about the establishment of partnership with foreign universities and institutions; these contracts involve exchanges of students, graduate students and PhD students, professors, as well as collaborative scientific and innovative activity.

The University works closely with large companies in Japan as «JeolLtd», «SekiTechnotron», «UlvacInc». D. Serikbayev EKSTU signed an agreement to create a Management Dual Master Program with the University of Hoseo (South Korea).

The number of foreign scientists and consultants in 2013 was 49 people , 20 of them - scientists from abroad and 29 - representatives of the CIS.

With the assistance of foreign experts the nature of teaching has changed: more attention is paid to the quality of education, competency-based approach ( Competence approach - a set of general principles of the education goals, curriculum selection, educational process organization and educational outcomes assessment), has become more interested in the students language training. The faculty of the University turned to active languages learning.

According to the results of joint work with visiting scholars at EKSTU a series of educational materials in three languages (English, Kazakh and Russian) is expected to be published. It is also planned a joint publication of articles in journals recommended by Committee for Control of Education and Science of RK, including international journals with non-zero impact factor (according to Thomson Reuters information base or included in the Scopus company's database). Academic mobility of students and professors is arranged by exchange programs and concluded cooperation agreements.

The University has received money aimed at increasing of academic mobility and sending of students to study at foreign universities. In 2013-2014 academic year, 19 students are trained in universities in Germany, the Philippines, Poland. The result of this program was transcript obtaining with mandatory offsetting of credits received in the home university.

In addition to the import of Education, the University actively admits foreign students. Owing to the work of Eastern branch of International Association for the Exchange Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE), the University has an opportunity to send the best students to have internship in foreign countries (USA, China, Denmark, Germany, Spain, and Ireland).

The University is working with various foreign and international organizations and programs, accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan (TEMPUS-TACIS, DAAD, IAESTE, «Bolashak")

EKSTU continues to work as a member of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. As part of the interstate project "University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization", our University has been nominated as the coordinator - basic institution in "information technology" field.
